Meet Laney Podell: Our New Director Of Marketing & Sales

We’re very pleased to introduce Laney Podell, who recently joined our team as the new director of marketing and sales at The Variel.
Laney was born in the San Fernando Valley and has lived here her entire life, so she knows the Woodland Hills and Warner Center areas quite well. She has a warm, engaging personality and loves to meet people, which makes her a natural at building long-lasting relationships. She comes to us with considerable experience in the senior living field, having worked at senior living communities in Montrose, Sherman Oaks and Canoga Park over the past decade. In fact, she still stays in touch with a number of residents at those communities, and we’re confident that she is absolutely the right person to help welcome new residents to The Variel.
Laney’s extensive experience includes all facets of resident life in the senior living industry, from being involved with health services, operations, finances, and sales to the development and implementation of activities and programs designed to connect residents and enrich their lives. She has demonstrated a talent—and a passion—for helping seniors live a healthy, fulfilling lifestyle.
Laney’s Path To The Variel
After graduating from Taft High School in Woodland Hills and earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics at California State University, Northridge, Laney got married and was a stay-at-home mom until her son was in junior high school. When she decided to embark on her professional career, she accepted a position in the leasing office of a corporate housing company located just a few blocks away from where The Variel is now. After transitioning to the director of corporate events, Laney decided she wanted to work in the senior living industry. By starting with smaller, privately owned communities, she received training in all aspects of the business. She also received her RCFE (Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly) certification from the state of California.
Through her previous roles in sales and marketing, Laney developed a strong skillset in communications and community outreach. She also realized how much she enjoys the relationship-building part of sales, as well as the satisfaction of helping others and filling their needs. In addition, as the program director at one community and then the healthy lifestyles director at another, she discovered the rewards of planning and promoting events that encourage a vibrant lifestyle for seniors, including social engagement and lifelong learning.

You can schedule a one-on-one visit with Laney at the newly opened Discovery Center, which is less than a block away from The Variel construction site. She’ll show you around, where you can get a preview of the contemporary, upscale interior design that will be a hallmark of our beautiful new community. She’ll also answer your questions about The Variel and our VIP Program. Below is an exclusive sneak peek at the Discovery Center led by Laney herself.
